Pathiramanal, a small island, in Muhamma panchayat of Alappuzha district, is also famous with tourists for its superb sceneries and stunning surroundings. Pathiramanal Island meaning "Island of the midnight sands" is located, just four km from the Kumarakom Backwaters and the Bird sanctuary. The island is a home to variety of rare migratory birds, proving it to be the best venue for bird watchers. Kumarakom is an enticing backwater destination offering the visitors with plenty of options like boating, fishing and staying on a traditional houseboat called Kettuvalloms. Kumarkom exhibits beautiful combination of lush green paddy fields, mangrove forests and coconut groves jumbled with enchanting waterways and canals bordered with white lilies.
