Step in something gross on your way to work this morning? Apparently so did readers of Travel and Leisure the last time they came for a visit. They?ve named San Antonio as one of America?s dirtiest cities,? so we can take comfort that we?re not alone. The rankings come from Travel and Leisure?s ?America?s Favorite Cities? surveys, in which readers choose from 35 major metropolitan areas and rate them on things like culture, food, shopping, as well as potentially less complimentary aspects such as safety and cleanliness.
The dirtiest cities list then was compiled through reader ratings, perhaps not exactly science but certainly a commentary on the average visitor?s opinion. Interestingly, these untidy cities don?t exactly repel folks.
Some people would argue that filth is an unavoidable part of urban life in big, highly populated metro areas. What do you say? Is our dirt part of our charm, our culture, our city?
