GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) ? Israel on Thursday handed over to the Palestinian government the remains of 91 militants who had been killed while carrying out suicide bombings and other attacks in an effort to renew long-stalled peace talks.
The bodies had been buried in coffins in Israel and were dug up for the transfer. Seventy-nine were transported to Ramallah, which is run by the Palestinian Authority, and 12 to the Hamas-run Gaza Strip, which is run by the rival Islamic militant group Hamas.
Israeli officials handed over the remains to Palestinian liaisons in the Jordan Valley, according to Palestinian official Salem Khileh.
"We hope that this humanitarian gesture will serve both as a confidence-building measure and help get the peace process back on track," Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev said. "Israel is ready for the immediate resumption of peace talks without any preconditions whatsoever."
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas gave no sign that the gesture would persuade him to return to talks.
The "major obstacles to resuming negotiations" were Israel's refusal to freeze all settlement construction in the West Bank and east Jerusalem, and the need to negotiate on the basis of the lines Israel held before capturing those territories in 1967, he said Thursday in the West Bank city of Ramallah.
Palestinians see those areas as the core of a future state that would also include Gaza. Israel rejects that demand.
Israeli-Palestinian talks stalled more than three years ago and have failed to take off again despite U.S. mediation, primarily because of the dispute over settlement construction.
The transfer of the bodies came a day after Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Israel cannot wait forever to reach accord, suggesting the government could consider taking unilateral action.
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Thursday that unilateral action isn't a substitute for Israeli-Palestinian negotiations on a two-state solution. She also told reporters in Denmark that prospects have improved with the emergence of a new Israeli coalition government under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Dozens of Islamic Jihad fighters and families holding framed pictures of their dead relatives welcomed the 12 coffins as they entered Gaza, draped with Palestinian national flags that were then presented to families. Women ululated and threw rice and sugar over the coffins. Hamas police officers fired 21 shots into the air in salute.
Thousands spilled into Gaza's streets for the funeral procession, many stopping to mark a moment of silence. Islamic Jihad fighters armed with machine guns and hand grenades wore white robes and masks ? clothes meant to symbolize the martyrdom of the suicide bombers.
All 91 returned were killed carrying out attacks on Israeli targets, Palestinian officials said. At least one of the attacks dated back to the 1970s.
Two armed men, clad in black uniforms and bandanas, kissed the forehead of a suicide bomber's mother as the vehicle carrying his body arrived. Her 21-year-old son, Ramzi Obaied of Islamic Jihad, killed 24 Israelis in a 1996 attack in Tel Aviv.
"My son was a hero," said the black-clad woman, who identified herself as Um Hidar. "The enemy feared him even after his death, for they kept his body."
Mirvat Zaoul's husband, Mohammed Zaoul, killed four Israelis in a 2004 suicide attack in Jerusalem. She said she thought her 11-year-old son would be sad to hear that his father's remains would be returned to the West Bank.
"But he was happy," she said. "He said, 'I'm going to visit his grave every day and put a flower there for him.'"
With the development of science and technology, the area of people acting is enlarging gradually. In order to effectively improve the safety of people and equipment, especially for those engaging in the offshore fishing and field operations, an advanced satellite positioning and call system is designed in the paper. The main function of system is to obtain GPS data by the GPS module from the satellite, and then the information of location, time, speed and the situation of satellite online is displayed through the displaying terminal in real-time.Also the information will be uploaded to control center by satellite communications module after fixed time or fixed distance. At the same time the system should receive information and commands from control centre by satellite communications module. The weather forecast and news from control center are displayed. Under the dangerous situation, the latest location information is uploaded immediately to the control center by startup of the alarm button. This system can store a certain amount of historical information. The theory of GPS satellite positioning is introduced in detail in this paper. Besides a brief introduction of the principle of satellite communications, the ARM embedded systems and the invironment of ADS for hardware development are introduced in detail. On the basis of that, the paper describes how to realize the satellite positioning and call system in software and hardware. The core of control is AT91SRM7S64 in the design of the satellite positioning system of this paper. Classic HX-87 module is selected on GPS module. Satellite data communications is implemented by the Iridium SBD9601 module. The information is displayed by an intelligent terminal of serial port and 240 * 128 points. This paper supplies a practical way to design a set of satellite positioning and calls system . It is the first time that the module of Iridium system for communication is used for the satellite positioning and call system in our the country. The practical products are testing and the results are exciting.

A few days ago we received an email from Austin filmmaker Bob Ray, best known for shorts such as Hillbilly Doomsday and the documentaries Hell on Wheels and Total Badass.
His message began as follows:
Last week, the criminal defense lawyer who defends Chad Holt in the documentary Total Badass (Adam Reposa, a.k.a. ?Bulletproof,? a.k.a. Repo) asked me to help him make a commercial for his law practice here in Austin. As required by law, we submitted it to the State Bar of Texas for approval.
The legal community in Texas is going crazy with it right now and the vid has been bouncing around D.A. and defense attorney?s offices for the last few days hours. Also, not sure of the repercussions (for Adam, Chad, or, most importantly, for me) if the Bar prohibits the commercial from being used or if we?re breaking any laws?
Getting an email from someone saying that people are going crazy over their video is a pretty common event in this job and always ends in me feeling underwhelmed, but in this case? well, all I can say is, wow!
Check out Ray?s ?Repo? commercial below.

English entrepreneur and chairman of The Virgin Group Sir Richard Branson thinks that your tap water is dirty. So much so, in fact, that he's partnered up with Strauss Water to get one of his new purifiers into your home and onto your countertop. The colorful Virgin Pure T6 (£299, $466) can dispense 1.3 liters of chilled H20 per minute, or 1.4 liters of hot water that's stored internally. The T7 (£379, or $591) delivers a bit more swagger to your crib with its minimalist, tapered design that offers 50 percent faster cold water flow. It even gets a small power bump to heat your hot water more quickly than its less-expensive sibling. It all sounds well and good, but we'll really be impressed when Virgin crams one of these into its seatbacks in first class.
Musician Doc Watson poses backstage at McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Monica, Calif., in this 1986 publicity photo.
By The Associated Press
The manager of Grammy-winning folk musician Doc Watson says the artist has died. He was 89.
Mitchell Greenhill said in a news release that Watson died Tuesday at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. A hospital spokeswoman also confirmed Watson's death.
Watson was a master flatpicker, playing his acoustic guitar at lightning speeds that could intimidate other musicians. The blind musician also sang and played other instruments, including the harmonica.
His many awards include the National Medal of the Arts in 1997 and the lifetime achievement award from the Grammys in 2004. His albums earned seven other Grammys.
Watson was also known for Merlefest, an annual gathering of musicians in Wilkesboro named after his son, who died in a tractor accident in 1985.

What is the barometer of greatness for a champion in WWE? Some argue that it's how many title reigns you can rack up, which proves your staying power in the championship picture for a long period of time. Others say it's the quality, not the quantity of a reign that matters; that keeping the title around your waist for months upon months (or possibly years) is the way to be remembered as a dominant champion.
While a strong case can be made on either side of this debate, WWE.com wants to know for sure: What is the true test of a champion's greatness?
Now that WWE Champion CM Punk's reign has stretched to WWE's longest in four years, it's an opportune time to lay out all of the talking points in an attempt to settle the score. Who better to lend opinions on the matter than WWE Superstars who have all risen to championship glory?
In this WWE.com exclusive, find out what John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Christian, The Miz and Booker T think as we present compelling viewpoints for reign length and reign count. Once you've read both arguments, cast your vote in WWE.com's poll?and let your voice be heard.

No person would like or ideas to file individual bankruptcy, particularly with the modern drastic modifications in the bankruptcy regulation which can make it much more tough or even extremely hard for individuals in specified situations to even think about filing bankruptcy. Personal bankruptcy is a personalized factor and is also typically a very psychological issue, so it is not something to enter into with out a extremely comprehensive examination of your personal bankruptcy choices and options.
Consumers who discover on their own in the unwanted predicament of acquiring a mountain of financial debt may possibly be considering filing bankruptcy. This is not something that is a personal reflection on the individual, because much more often than not, filing bankruptcy is not a signal of any type of economic mismanagement, but is far more generally identified to be some thing that was totally out of the handle of the client, such as a occupation layoff when it was not predicted, unexpected higher medical or hospitalization bills that had been not covered by one's wellbeing insurance, a hotly contested divorce scenario, or a lot of a lot more reasons too several to list right here.
Even though numerous occasions buyers sense that individual bankruptcy is a indicator of weakness or a indicator of defeat, several moments it is the most viable alternative obtainable below the situation. Countless numbers of folks file for bankruptcy each and every yr, even although the bankruptcy laws have modified in modern several years, producing it significantly a lot more hard to file personal bankruptcy than it utilized to be. Personal bankruptcy can also be personally uncomfortable, though it should not be.
It is exciting to note that approximately 30% of customers filing for personal bankruptcy are undertaking so because of a divorce predicament. In a divorce circumstance, the marital debt is equally divided among the spouses. Most of the time, that financial debt is on credit score cards that carry a high interest charge, and missing only a number of repayments on that, blended with the late expenses assessed, can produce a mountain of overdue debt that appears insurmountable.
In the scenario of some sort of main or catastrophic celebration such as a significant surgery or hospitalization, specially when such healthcare charges are not covered or have exceeded the limits of one's wellness insurance coverage, this can depart a single with enormous charges and no true hope of ever getting them paid out off. For a key medical treatment, the costs can exceed $ one hundred,000 just before you know it as effectively as considerably larger, and even at reduced or no curiosity assessed, this is one thing that will lead to a lot of men and women to contemplate bankruptcy to take care of.
One more common cause for filing bankruptcy is younger people who get in more than their monetary heads with credit cards and university student loans although they are in school. This is borne out by the truth that about 10% of men and women filing bankruptcy are under age twenty five. Oh, hi Summer! It?s nice to see you. Kind of. I have to admit that I REALLY hate Florida summers. The humidity just totally disgusts me! You can break a sweat just walking to the mailbox. And don?t even get me started on my hair. Thick and wavy hair does not work well in humidity. I don?t even know why I bother straightening my hair.
One thing I do enjoy about summer is food. Duh. Summertime makes me think of great picnic and BBQ foods. Pasta and potato salads are a summer favorite. I have some serious standards when it comes to pasta salads. If there is a ton of mayo, you can forget it! I also like my pasta salads to filled with other great ingredients like lots of fresh veggies for added texture and flavor.
THIS pasta salad! This pasta salad is an exception to my pasta salad rule. There isn?t a ton of mayo. The buttermilk gives it a nice tang and the dill just adds even more great flavor! The other thing I love about this pasta salad is how versatile it is. I added peas, corn, and bacon to mine as that is what I had on hand at home, but you could really add so many different things to this pasta salad! Maybe some cherry tomatoes, broccoli, or carrots. I think some chicken or shrimp would also be nice!
OH, and before we get to the recipe, have you entered my digital food scale giveaway from SlimKicker? What are you waiting for?! Enter here!

4-5 slices reduced fat bacon, cooked and diced into small pieces
1 tbs. fresh dill, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 1/2 tbs. lemon juice
salt and pepper to taste
Instructions

Here you will find suggestions on how you can get started easily. After reading these tips, you will have a better understanding of what it takes to take on your own home improvement projects.
Before you remodel anything in a room think about painting it. Painting the walls and ceiling before you install the floor is just common sense. Although you can use a drop cloth to protect things while you?re painting, it?s better to avoid the problem entirely if you can.
Make sure the contractor listens to what you have to say. Hiring a contractor that is honest is important, but you need to be aware if they are listening to any of your concerns. If your contractor isn?t acknowledging your opinion, then you may not get what you want. Make sure that they pay very close attention to what you tell them.
Stucco is a good option for outdoor siding. Stucco is fairly easy to apply, although you may need to use forms. Whether you do the job yourself or hire a professional, your home?s new stucco exterior is going to retain its fresh, attractive appearance for many years to come.
Make sure a contractor you?re considering hiring has the proper documentation before you sign them on. You c an find out via your state government site or phone. An unlicensed contractor is a sign that they did something to lose their license, or are just a scam artist.
Find a contractor that knows how to listen to you. Having a trustworthy contractor is incredibly important, but so is making sure that they hear your concerns. An inattentive contractor may not complete the job as you intended. Make sure you are being listened to with open ears.
A well-made and contemporary front door can lead to an increase in the value of your property asphalt shingle roof. It is possible to freshen the appearance of your entry door by purchasing one of the many styles of knob and lock combinations available on the market.

Updated plumbing fixtures always increase your property?s value, especially when they are eco-friendly. In addition, they?ll significantly reduce your water bill.
Use steel wool as a temporary measure to plug any holes or cracks that are allowing mice to find their way into your home. The rodents are not able to chew through this, even though they can chew through just about anything else, so you can use this as a stop-gap until you make a permanent repair.
Apply an asphalt sealant to your driveway to keep it from weathering and cracking. The elements can cause your driveway to crack if not protected. Protect your driveway from the weather by applying a sealant.
You need to check out your roof to see if there are any maintenance issues during the spring. Keep an eye out for curling or blistering of the shingles, then replace them if they are damaged. Repairing minor damages when they are first noticed will help prevent having to have major work done later on down the road.
Ideally, you will now have a whole new perspective of how to reach your goals for improving your living space. A home improvement project can make your home into a showplace. Don?t let improving your home feel like a chore, make it into a hobby. That way you?re both saving money and having fun.

MIAMI (AP) ? A big early Miami lead was wasted. Once the Heat took control again, they simply ran away from the Boston Celtics.
And the NBA finals are now three wins away for LeBron James and the Heat.
James scored 32 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, Dwyane Wade scored 10 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and the Heat beat the Celtics 93-79 on Monday night in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals.
Shane Battier, playing in the conference finals for the first time, scored 10 points and had 10 rebounds for the Heat, who wasted an early 11-point first-half lead before running away to break a halftime tie. Miami outrebounded the Celtics 48-33, and blocked 11 Boston shots.
It was those last two stats that had James lauding the night as a team effort.
"We get a lot of the press, we get a lot of the headlines," James said. "But our teammates, they do everything to help us win ball games."
Kevin Garnett scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Boston, which got 16 points, nine rebounds and seven assists from Rajon Rondo and 12 points from Paul Pierce. Ray Allen shot just 1 for 7 from the floor for Boston, which was outscored by 10 in the first quarter and 11 in the third.
"On the road, you can't have two quarters of lulls," Celtics coach Doc Rivers said.
Game 2 is Wednesday night in Miami.
It's the third straight year the Heat and Celtics have met in the playoffs, the third straight year James has seen his postseason path go through Boston as well ? the first of those matchups coming in 2010, his final run with Cleveland.
Each of those came in the first or second rounds, not this close to the NBA finals.
And while both sides would say there's a long way to go in this series, Game 1 winners have a decided edge in any best-of-seven, the conference final being no exception. In the most recent 10 postseasons, teams with 1-0 leads in conference finals have advanced 15 out of 20 times. One of the five instances of a team rallying from a one-game deficit was last year, when Miami ousted Chicago in five games.
Last season's Miami-Boston series ended with James scoring the final 10 points of Game 5, and the start of this year's matchup had him putting on another offensive display.
He had 13 points in the first quarter ? two more than the entire Celtics roster ? and Miami ran out to a 21-11 lead after the opening period. Garnett made three of his four shots in the quarter, while everyone else in Boston green was 2 for 16 from the floor.
"They came to play," Rivers said. "I mean Miami."
The 11 points matched the lowest output by any team in the opening quarter this postseason. The other team to manage that few was San Antonio, which then dropped 32 on the Los Angeles Clippers in the second quarter of their game on May 19.
The Celtics' response was even better.
Boston scored 35 in the second quarter, erasing what was an 11-point deficit early in the period by scoring 27 points in the final 8:46 of the half to pull into a 46-all tie. Rondo, Garnett and Pierce combined to score 23 points in the quarter, looking absolutely vintage, near-perfect offensive execution getting to Miami time and time again. And the Celtics' comeback happened even while they got hit with three technical fouls in the second quarter, plus Allen missing four first-half free throws ? matching his career-worst for an entire game.
In the end, it went down as merely a one-quarter lapse for Miami.
Another technical foul, this one on Rondo, came in the third quarter, likely born from frustration as the Heat started to roll again.
With the game tied at 50, Rondo missed three shots in a 31-second span early in the third, the last of those getting blocked by Battier ? who hit a 3-pointer 11 seconds later. It started a 9-2 Miami burst, including a touchdown pass from Wade to James ? Wade grabbed the rebound of a miss by Pierce, spun and delivered a 90-foot pass to the reigning MVP ? for an easy score.
Miami led by as many as 13 late in the third, before taking a 72-61 lead into the fourth. James scored 10 more in the third, Boston went cold again shooting just 27 percent in the period, and Wade's left-handed bullet pass into the lane set up Joel Anthony for a dunk that pushed the Heat lead to 15 with 10:13 remaining.
"We'll go back and see what we can do better," Rivers said. "And we'll fix it."
NOTES: Heat coach Erik Spoelstra is now 6-0 in Game 1s at home. ... James passed Sam Jones (2,909) for 22nd on the NBA's playoff scoring list with a layup late in the first quarter, and Garnett passed Dirk Nowitzki (1,314) for 22nd on the league's postseason rebound list. ... The Heat left the floor at halftime with a 48-46 lead, then had two points by Anthony taken off after a lengthy reviewed showed he had a basket after the shot clock expired. ... Miami F Chris Bosh did a light pregame workout, but still remains out indefinitely with a lower abdominal strain. He was on the Heat bench for the first time in Miami's last six games.
Short movies stored in an atomic vaporPublic release date: 29-May-2012 [ | E-mail | Share ]

The storage of light-encoded messages on film and compact disks and as holograms is ubiquitous---grocery scanners, Netflix disks, credit-card images are just a few examples. And now light signals can be stored as patterns in a room-temperature vapor of atoms. Scientists at the Joint Quantum Institute (*) have stored not one but two letters of the alphabet in a tiny cell filled with rubidium (Rb) atoms which are tailored to absorb and later re-emit messages on demand. This is the first time two images have simultaneously been reliably stored in a non-solid medium and then played back.
In effect, this is the first stored and replayed atomic movie. Because the JQI researchers are able to store and replay two separate images, or "frames," a few micro-seconds apart, the whole sequence can qualify as a feat of cinematography. The new storage process was developed by Paul Lett and his colleagues, who publish their results in the latest issue of the journal Optics Express (**).
One young man was inspired by the lingo of the JQI paper, especially the storage of images in the atomic memory, and contrived a song which he performs on a YouTube video clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChBZUuRVMsU
We don't yet need to store grocery barcodes in tiny vials of rubidium. The atomic method, however, will come into its own for storing and processing quantum information, where subtle issues of coherence and isolation from the outside world need to be addressed.
The atomic storage medium is a narrow cell some 20 centimeters long, which seems pretty large for a quantum device. That's how much room is needed to accommodate a quantum process called gradient echo memory (GEM). This useful protocol for storage was pioneered at the Australian National University just in the past few years. While many storage media try to cram as much information into as small a place as possible---whether on a magnetized strip or on a compact disk---in GEM an image is stored over the whole range of that 20-cm-long cell.
The image is stored in this extended way, by being absorbed in atoms at any one particular place in the cell, depending on whether those atoms are exposed to three carefully tailored fields: the electric field of the signal light, the electric field of another "control" laser pulse, and a magnetic field (adjusted to be different along the length of the cell) which makes the Rb atoms (each behaving like a magnet itself) precess about. When the image is absorbed into the atoms in the cell, the control beam is turned off. Because this process requires the simultaneous action of two particular photons---one putting the atom in an excited state, the other sending it back down to a slightly different ground state---it cannot easily be undone by atoms subsequently randomly emitting light and returning to the original ground state.
That's how the image is stored. Image readout occurs in a sort of reverse process. The magnetic field is flipped to a contrary orientation, the control beam turned back on, and the atoms start to precess in the opposite direction. Eventually those atoms reemit light, thus reconstituting the image pulse, which proceeds on its way out of the cell.
Having stored one image (the letter N), the JQI physicists then stored a second image, the letter T, before reading both letters back in quick succession. The two "frames" of this movie, about a microsecond apart, were played back successfully every time, although typically only about 8 percent of the original light was redeemed, a percentage that will improve with practice. According to Paul Lett, one of the great challenges in storing images this way is to keep the atoms embodying the image from diffusing away. The longer the storage time (measured so far to be about 20 microseconds) the more diffusion occurs. The result is a fuzzy image.
Paul Lett plans to link up these new developments in storing images with his previous work on squeezed light. "Squeezing" light is one way to partially circumvent the Heisenberg uncertainty principle governing the ultimate measurement limitations. By allowing a poorer knowledge of a stream of light---say the timing of the light, its phase---one gain a sharper knowledge of a separate variable---in this case the light's amplitude. This increased capability, at le
ast for the one variable, allows higher precision in certain quantum measurements.
"The big thing here," said Lett, "is that this allows us to do images and do pulses (instead of individual photons) and it can be matched (hopefully) to our squeezed light source, so that we can soon try to store "quantum images" and make essentially a random access memory for continuous variable quantum information. The thing that really attracted us to this method---aside from its being pretty well-matched to our source of squeezed light---is that the ANU group was able to get 87% recovery efficiency from it - which is, I think, the best anyone has seen in any optical system, so it holds great promise for a quantum memory."
The lead author of the new Optics Express article, Quentin Glorieux, feels that the JQI image storage method represents a potentially important addition to the establishment of quantum networks, equipment which exploits quantum effects for computing, communications, and metrology. "It is very exciting because images and movies are familiar to everyone. We want to go to the quantum level. If we manage to store quantum information embedded in an image or maybe in multiple images, that could really hasten the advent of a quantum network/internet."
