Training and Development Manager - ASTD

Responsible for improving the productivity of the organization?s employees. Responsible for the effective development, coordination and presentation of training and development programs for all employees. Assess company-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives. Identify and arrange suitable training solutions for employees. Actively search, creatively design and implement effective methods to educate, enhance performance and recognize performance. Provide hands on training for the company?s business skills division.

Duties and Responsibilities: Develop training programs and coach others involved in training efforts, providing effective growth and development opportunities. May provide and or facilitate with an outside vendor, business skills training to include: PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and other company systems, communication, leadership, customer service, conflict resolution, performance management, etc. Conduct follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results; modify programs as needed; develop effective training materials utilizing a variety of media. Utilize training staff, managers and supervisors to systematically review all company jobs. Review will include necessary competencies, training and skills sets. Conduct audits of existing staff to determine current training gaps. Develop employee training programs by position based on competency reviews and gap analysis. Assist with the development of career paths for each employee and or position. Track coarse content, employee coarse registrations, career development, and other employee development activities through a learning management system or (LMS). Responsible for maintaining employee training profiles also referred to as ?training transcripts?. Develop and maintain communications such as bulletin boards, electronic media and newsletters to ensure employees have knowledge of training opportunities. Develop and monitor spending against the departmental budget. Exemplify the desired culture and philosophies of the organization. Work effectively as a team member with other members of management and the Human Resources staff. Develops, writes and coordinates training manuals working with other trainers for specific details. The training manuals should include: course content, visual charts, videotapes, slides, etc. Types initial and/or final drafts of manuals. This position requires initiative, motivation, creativity and ability to understand many areas of expertise. The training area is one of constant change. This position must be able to react positively to these developments and help lead the way forward to include new developments in training targeted to both new and existing employees. Responsible for managing all company training staff which includes: support staff, professional and vocational trainers.
