The clock strikes midnight, the ringing sound of a grandfather clock's gong echos down a hallway. The sound carries till it rams into a wall at the end of the hall where small beams of light peer through the spaces of a closed wooden door. The clinking of glasses hitting together is muffled just like the voices that carry on a conversation behind the door. Moonlight peers through the window at the other end of the hallway casting an eerie glow on the red carpet that lines the flooring. A flash of light fills the hallway and suddenly the room at the end of the hall is dark.

---------------------------

The bustling streets of Windcrick are filled with the news of celebration. The princess has returned from her long voyage and a festival is to be thrown in her honor. The entire city is invited, and the streets quickly fill with vendors selling goods for people to make their delicious foods and gifts. In the distance a castle rests on a hill overlooking the city. It looks peaceful, there are flower garlands on the gates in celebration of the princess' return and beautiful lanterns line the walkways to the large doors. Inside the castle voices buzz with excitement as prepareations are made for the festival and ball.

------------------------

Princess Aelaera lies on her bed, her dark brown hair let out from the braids they were in upon her arrival, was now spread out on her pillow in waves. Her alabaster skin made her features stand out more. Her dark shaped eyebrows, long eyelashes, and rosy lips displayed a relaxed expression as she slept soundly. Her body was exhausted from the voyage she had been on. A voyage not a single person but herself, her trusted teacher and 4 others would know about. Something big was happening with the princess, something nobody would see coming, and it was coming. Very soon.

----------------------
Princess Aelaera is the next in line to inherit the throne of Windcrick, and in order for her to do so, she must marry. Something she is not eager to do since her teacher Sir Asher Cavelier opened a door for her, a magical door. In secrecy he has been teaching her the most ancient workings of magic including spells and potion making. Magic is something that while not completely frowned upon, is regulated very tightly in the kingdom. The King, King Reynard does not trust it very much and hopes that when his daughter takes over, she will ban it completely from being practiced. The only reason he can not, is because of his enemies who use the darkest magic, and he is working with the best wizards known around who know white magic. The King was very confused when this war of magic started considering he was only adjusted to physical fighting. How the magical war started, nobody in the kingdom seems to know and this is what Aelarea is trying to get to the bottom of by being trained to be the most powerful witch in the world that practices white magic.

She can not do it alone though. When Aelarea was just a child, she had made friends with four of the servants children. The children were permitted to come to the castle with their mothers and often were given permission to play with Aelarea so she would not become a social recluse. They became so close that eventually those families were moved onto the grounds and their status in society was changed. Throughout her training Sir Asher began to discover more and more information of an ancient prophecy that foretold the most powerful magic known to man. This magic wouldn't be able to be harnessed just by the princess herself. Even with her extensive training, once she would cast the spell alone the magic would completely drain her, and completely destroy her. The magic was to be taught between five; The Mystical Five they would be called they would each represent one part of the magic and upon combining the powers, they would bring an end to any dark powers they could reach. While Aelarea has been taught since she was a small child, when they four others had been moved into the castle, they had also been put under the teaching responsibilities of Sir Asher. Over time he taught them basic yet powerful magic that in the end would help the princess and keep her safe.

Word has spread now that the dark magic has begun to boil, that the power is spreading in distant lands, while they are too far to confront at this moment, their numbers are growing and they are slowly creeping closer to the kingdom. Time is running out slowly to train The Mystical Five in the ways of the white magic, and only time can tell if they're ready to fight.
