Helping Children To Develop Concentration Power

During our childhood days, we used to do many tricks. Developing new tricks was one of our favorite hobbies. One day my friend showed me a trick which he used to call ?the magic rays of sun?. He took a magnifying glass and a piece of paper. He asked all of us to see the trick minutely. He placed the paper on the ground and above that held a magnifying glass. The sun rays were falling into the paper through the glass and within a few minutes the paper caught fire.

All of us became extremely surprised with his trick; it made me awake the whole night. The next day I told my father about ?the magic rays of sun? and asked him how a paper could catch fire without an external effort. My father explained that whenever the sun rays crosses the magnifying glass, the ray heat the surface of the thing on which it?s falling.

This constant heat on the paper made the paper hot and ultimately it caught fire. But the fire could start only when the sun's rays were concentrated to a small point. This magic trick explained me vividly the power of concentration. In every walk of life, we need to be fully conscious. When we focus on something properly, our energy doesn?t get dissipated on irrelevant activities or thoughts.

Thus whatever we do putting our full concentration, the chances of success in the task becomes higher. This is the reason why developing this power among kids becomes extremely important in their formative years. In today?s scenario, many parents complain of their kids? lack of focus on their academics. The basic reason behind this is that they get dissipated most of the time. It is the power to put your whole focus on one single activity or object without getting distracted.

The child researchers came up with different measures to increase the level of concentration among kids. Some of the ways are briefly discussed below:-

? ?Yoga is considered to be one of the most effective physical exercises that calm down our senses. When our senses get calmed, our mind started working faster. Thus admitting your child to a yoga class could be a good idea for the parents
? ?Provide the child a place in the house where they can relax for some time. Place your child?s study table in a place where no outside sound could reach. This way the child won?t get distracted easily
? ?Try to make the works interesting for the child. We feel distracted from our goal whenever we become bore of that. This is more true with the younger children
? ?Firm physical behavior with the child is another way of help the child to concentrate. If parents notice their children behaving in a different manner, they should understand that this may make the children lose their concentration. In such a situation, parents should try to understand their child first prior to solving their problems.

As kids are not matured like adults, so parents and teachers shouldn?t expect them to be perfect. Children may make many mistakes, but it is for the parents and teachers to try and understand them. When children get a healthy environment in home and school their span of concentration increases.
