Bill O'Reilly was dismayed by Melissa Harris-Perry's recent comments about racial profiling after 9/11 on Monday.
His guest was Lanny Davis, a former Clinton strategist who is teaming up with Michael Steele for a new project to urge civility in their political parties. O'Reilly told Davis, "you gotta know you're fighting a losing battle."
The Fox News host pointed to MSNBC to make his argument. He first called the network out for its editing of Mitt Romney's remarks about East Coast chain WaWa. Then, he turned to a clip of Harris-Perry's speech at the Take Back the American Dream Conference in Washington, D.C.
In it, she said that terrorism has allowed Americans to "stomach a kind of horrific racial violence in the name of national security,? something that ?we have been willing to stomach as a people over and over again in our history."
On Monday night, O'Reilly called her comments "unbelievable." He said sarcastically, "So we in the United States are racists because we defended ourselves against radical Islam after 9/11 ? you can?t combat that."
"How do you combat that?" he asked guest Lanny Davis about Harris-Perry's remarks. Davis, who is said he also "strongly disagree[d] with what she did."
"But you can't stop her!" O'Reilly cried. When his guest suggested that critics need to speak up, he responded, "She doesn't care what you say!"
