Midnights Children premieres at BFI London Film Festival in Bollywood style

Britain News.Net Monday 15th October, 2012

British novelist Salman Rushdie brought Bollywood glamour to the 56th BFI London Film Festival on Sunday night as he premiered the movie adaptation of his famous novel 'Midnight's Children'.

Shriya Saran, the star of the movie, took the centre stage at the British premiere and wowed the Odeon West End in her traditional style of dress, the Daily Mail reported.

The 30-year-old actress looked sublime in a green sari that was lined with a pink and gold trim design. She completed her immaculate look by wearing a blue velvet top underneath while keeping her hair up in a neat style.

Shriya was joined by her co-star in the movie actor Satya Bhabha, who also looked rather dapper in a midnight blue two piece suit.

The movie's director Deepa Mehta kept up with tradition and also wore a gold and black sari as she joined writer/producer Salman for some photographs.

The film has not yet found any distributor in India due to its controversial content.

It portrays India after Independence and depicts the uncertain political environment during the era.

The book has critical descriptions of late PM Indira Gandhi, who suspended democracy in India between 1975 and 1977 to declare Emergency.

Salman won the Booker Prize in 1981 for the novel. (ANI)
