Nominet, the .uk domain name registry has launched?a three month consultation on the proposed introduction of a new service known as direct.uk.
Nominet is committed to consulting with a wide range of stakeholders through the policy process and accordingly asks you to contribute your views and experience as part of its strategy to support the continued growth of the UK internet economy.
The proposed service has been specifically designed for businesses, with additional security and verification features as well as a new shorter domain name of internet.uk rather than internet.co.uk.

Nominet is seeking views from all stakeholders on the potential introduction of this proposed new service which would made available alongside the existing .uk portfolio.? Further background information and the proposal in full can be viewed at? www.nominet.org.uk/go/directuk.? There are a number of ways in which to respond to the consultation either by completing an online form, by downloading the consultation and emailing your comments to direct@nominet.org.uk or by requesting a hard copy of the consultation from direct@nominet.org.uk.? Please note that it is not necessary to provide a response to each question as Nominet appreciates that some questions may only be relevant to certain stakeholders.
